This demonstration illustrates resonance of sound waves in a tube of varying length.
- Equipment
- Resonance tube
- Sound sensor
- Tone generator
- Cables
- How to assemble and operate
- 1. Connect the tone generator to the resonance tube speaker.
- 2. Place the sound sensor near the resonance tube.
- 3. Play a known frequency and move the piston until the sound reaches a maximum.
- 4. Observe that the piston should be at half the wavelength of the played frequency.
